As the UK’s first major exhibition dedicated to Zurbarán ended on 23 August at the National Gallery in London, two exhibitions opened at the Meadows Museum in Dallas on the same day: Spectacles of Power and Faith: Colonial South American art from the Thoma Foundation, curated by Adam Jasienski and Verónica Muñoz-Nájar, and Picasso Beyond the Canvas. The Zurbarán exhibition will open in a different form in the Louvre on 7 October 2026 (until 25 January 2027).
Faro Santander, a new art centre launched by Banco Santander, will open on 8 September with an ambitous inaugural exhibition programme in an evolving cultural hub in Santander. Leonora Carrington: The Symptomatic Surreal, a touring show exploring Carrington’s artistic journey in Santander during World War II, will be joined by two major exhibitions:
Masterpieces from the Banco Santander Collection, which spans almost five centuries of art history, including works by Titian, Rubens, El Greco, Velázquez, Goya, Picasso, Miró, Tàpies, Soledad Sevilla and Juan Uslé, and Modern Mexico in the Gelman Santander Collection (including works by Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco and María Izquierdo).
